is an experimental high energy physicist. She got her PhD in elementary particle physics at the NMC experiment at CERN. Later in the 1990s, she worked on the DELPHI experiment at the CERN LEP accelerator, where first contributed to the high-precision measurement of parameters of the Standard Model and then began the adventure of searching for the Higgs boson. In DELPHI, she has held various positions of responsibility, from coordinator of analysis groups, to coordination of all the physics of the experiment. Since 2000 she has been working on the CMS experiment at LHC. After having contributed to the construction of the muon detectors of the experiment, she has continued the search for the Higgs boson that was finally found in 2012. She has been responsible of various groups in charge of the search and, then, of the measurements of the particle characteristics. In 2009 she founded and coordinated for several years the LHC Higgs Cross Section working group, a group composed of experimental physicists of the various experiments at LHC and theorists, which was fundamental and instrumental for the discovery and subsequent measurements of the characteristics of the Higgs boson. Many students in Turin graduated with her, and as many did her doctorate under her tutelage. She teaches in international physics schools. She lately has been coordinating a science and art group, and as a musician, she plays the flute for sonification events.

The European Physical Society (EPS) awarded her the Emmy Noether Distinction for Women in Physics in 2018.

Davide Valsecchi

I'm a Particle Physics PhD student from Milano and I'm currently spending my PhD at CERN working on the optimization of the electromagnetic calorimeter (ECAL) for Run3 and on CMS data analysis  about Vector Boson Scattering. I'm part of CMS since 2016 and I have been working as a Technical Student at CERN before my PhD.  I really enjoy making people discover details and curiosities about how CMS have been built and works: waiting for your questions!
