We want to explore three different roads in parallel:
- Fabricate some new prototypes in Silicon with different width to pitch ratios. I will perform the training on that wafer. Evaluate with Michele the mechanical precision of the holder and of the PD array alignment before conceiving the second round of fabrication with the appropriate dimensions. These devices will be filled with scintillating liquid.
- Evaluate the specifications of the 3D printers available at CERN and EPFL and search for a commercial resin with appropriate characteristics to fabricate a new prototype with additive manufacturing techniques. This device will be filled with scintillating liquid.
The printer available at CERN is Forms 2 of Formlabs (https://formlabs.com/3d-printers/form-2/).
- Create a proof of concept of a self-standing scintillating grid. To do that, fabricate in the cleanroom both the Silicon stamp and the PDMS mould. Once the latter will be ready, spread on it the scintillating resin and polymerize it properly. For that purpose, Veronica, should we order the resin considering the shipping time of 4 weeks?
