Description

The German Research Foundation (DFG) and the German Initiative for Networked Information (DINI) have initiated several projects to promote electronic publishing and Open Access. We aim at repository operators, developers and the scientific community as being users and producers of scientific publications. OA-Network as central node builds up a network of German Open Access Repositories and cooperates closely with OA-Statistics (developing an added-value service for repository usage statistics), OA-Citations (open access reference citation service, now called DOARC) and OA-Subject Repositories (enhancing the collaboration of institutional and subject-based repositories) as well as with the collaborative platform CARPET, aiming at developers and users of electronic publishing software technologies. This portfolio finds its completion by OA-Policies and OA-Plagiarism Search. The first one provides the German implementation of the RoMEO service and aims especially at OA policies of German publishers while the latter one offers a plagiarism detection service enhancing the integrity of OA publications. Our objective is to encourage all German libraries and repositories to get involved in our collaborative effort, either as contributors or users. We are interested in international cooperation with other repository networks, service providers or developers in order to pave the way for open access in scientific publishing.
