Action & matters arising

  • Define procedure on how to do dispersion measurements properly between PS and SPS; this was done in the 2012 the last by changing the frequency in the PS; check back on this and find good procedure --> longer term (OP + PS2SPS transfer)
  • Done: Tests from CCC to study potential impact of PCs on BTVs
  • Follow-up with magnet team and EPC to study orbit evolution and potential impact of different elements (extraction, TT10 quads,...) --> longer term (OP, EPC, Magnets)
  • Repeat crystal loss reduction test with ZS and girders in (scheduled)
  • At every intensity step we should redo the procure, moving the dump though the ramp in steps, and slowly
  • How to work on NA beamline setting up and HiRadMat acceleration commissioning?

Kicker waveform scans for extraction; update in dispersion mismatch

  • Checked Aloha for suggestion of best correctors for kick response measurements
  • Check in PS revealed quads in TT2 that were not well set
  • All effects found helped to improve the mismatch, but are not able to explain the deviations observed
  • For Q20 cannot do the variation of fields at extraction in the PS - measurement thus, is rather tricky;
  • Francesco will investigate quads in more detail to see how this behaves;
  • Waveform scan redone:
  • MKE4 and MK6 wave forms measured; consistent with pre-LS2; shift od 2 us found due to change of position where beam is injected; delay set up;
  • V: are the settings also this also good for HiRadMat;

Update on noise measurements

  • Took measurements comparing 2018 excitation of single bunches, reconstructing tune spectrum to understand situation before EPC worked on filter capacitor; will do similar measurements now after the EPC intervention; can give a more extensive update next week;

Status of scrubbing run

  • Last week were at 2 batches of 72 bunches, main limitations were MKDV and vacuum in sectors 6 and 5; pressure thresholds moved up to 1e-5 which improved situation and allowed for faster scrubbing; 4 batches at full flat bottom reached by end of last week;
  • MKP heating limitation reached by last Sunday; weekend pressure evolution shows significant scrubbing achieved over the weekend; pressures dropped roughly by 50%.
  • beam quality evolution;
  • Batch spacing now reduced from 400 ns to 250 ns;
  • MKDV pressure decreasing gradually and approaching the nominal threshold values; how will this behave along the ramp?
  • First instabilities also seen; but at flat bottom no clear signs of instabilities seen like in the past
  • V: in the past we did scrubbing at 26 GeV; it doesn't seem that this is sufficient to accelerate our nominal bunch intensity; H: we scrub with higher intensity at FB and hope that this can be accommodated by
  • Chiara: gauge stability in4 are being checked; peaks that Lotta was showing are not only on the gauge but also on the ions pumps; they last few could of mins so it is real outgassing; could be non-conformities at level of RF fingers; would be good to see if this changes with intensity; ACTION: keep an eye on this;

Update on RF planning

  • No update given this time

WS application news

  • WS updates; updates implemented to the old application; requests collected on CodiMD; dev release available in the SPS CCM
  • Quick look at new version;
  • Hannes: display how may bunches are falling into selection criteria? How many bunches are considered and what is the average emittances;

Round table

  • Took back HiRadMat2 cycle and found that we need to improve for switching beam types; PS has similar problems; if copies change after a while, this is no longer reflected;
  • Reyes: is the ion cycle is ready? Hannes: this is prepared an ready and has been asked already by Philippe;
  • David: YETS been extended by 3 week; original closure date moved from Tuesday 11 to Friday 28; no additional work was foreseen; ABT was contacted for MKP-L, but this will not be ready so no change foreseen; RP asked for 1 week of cool-down, no access during first week of YETS;
  • Verena: Nico has included total voltage in optimizer - this can be tested on transition crossing;
  • Etienne: keep EN-STI in the loop;
  • Danilo: update on emittance blow-up;
  • Chiara: could have some time to check maintenance of ions pumps; is very adaptable but would be nice to have some time; scrubbing run, how long do you think this will;
  • Alex: PS2SPS WG meeting on Friday; looking into PS bunch rotation;
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
