STFC's page about RAL including directions etc. is:

The nearest railway station is Didcot Parkway

The nearest airport is London Heathrow. The RailAir (http://www.railair.com) bus
from Heathrow to Reading takes 30-60 minutes depending on traffic. From Reading there are
frequent fast trains to Didcot (15 minutes). From there you can take the32 or X32 bus (below).

London Gatwick and Birmingham International are also easy to get Dicot from. Trains run
from Gatwick to Reading - they run at least every hour and the fastest take 75 minutes. From
Birmingham International you can get direct trains to Oxford and then from Oxford there are
buses that go directly to Harwell Campus.

Bus 32 and X32 runs to Harwell Campus from Abingdon and Didcot.
(Timetables: http://www.thames-travel.co.uk/bus32/bus32_x32.htm )

The 34 also goes from Abingdon to Harwell Campus.

If you are arriving on Sunday it is easier to get to Abingdon via Oxford. The X3 bus leave Oxford
railway station every half hour (at 10 and 40 minutes past the hour).

This link has a map showing the bus stops in Abingdon, The Cosener's House, is on Abbey Close
just off the bottom right of the map.

In the mornings, bus 34 leaves the Stratton Way stop (A4) at 8:22 and arrives at RAL
at 8:42. This is by a long way the best one to catch. The next one is a 32 at 9:11 that gets
at 9:57 or so.
