An estimate of the coupling coefficient |C-| has been implemented in MAD-X, as presented by Eirik in the recent ABP information meeting https://indico.cern.ch/event/1048548/
More recently, MAD-X was upgraded to print a warning if RDTs (resonance driving terms) are such that the estimate might be inaccurate.
The beam-beam compensation WIRE element has been implemented in MAD-X using the same logic as the beam-beam element, both for TWISS and tracking, based on the same map as used in SixTrack. The wire can also be defined as part of a COLLIMATOR element. Misalignment, also combined with tilts is implemented in both MAD-X and PTC.
For bends, there is still an issue in PTC when combining large tilts and misalignments.
The support for incorporating up-to-date PTC versions in MAD remains to be clarified.
Laurent adds that he is also checking tilt and misalignment in MAD-NG

Action: Include the SymPy code used to derive the wire element in Twiss in the MAD code repository or documentation. A detailed presentation of the process will be interesting.

 

Round table discussion

Felix Soubelet says he is working on comparisons of optics measurements including coupling, with tracking simulations.

Laurent Deniau is working on normal forms for MAD-NG, starting with a pendulum, then the FODO cell, as discussed in detail in the 27 May meeting. A presentation of the progress is being planned.

Joschua Dilly works on optics modeling and correction, including non-linear corrections, as also described in two related IPAC contributions this year. Following the HL issue of large systematic b5 in D2 he volunteers to take a look at the concept of common B1-B2 correction of the b5 D2 with the corrector package in HL-LHC. Action: Contact Massimo.

Helmut Burkhardt says he continued to respond to user requests for MAKETHIN, recently mostly by providing help on the proper use of MAKETHIN, and that he continues to work on the (tilted) solenoid slicing motivated by FCC-ee.

Ewen Maclean says he is analyzing lots of data recorded in the present injector startup concerning BGI sextupolar field in PS and kick vs tune dependency in PSB among other topics. The shot-by-shot tune jitter improved by roughly a factor 2 to 3, after the POPS-B fix. 

Elias Waagard just started as summer student with Ewen to look at sextupolar corrections in LHC. He thanks Joschua, Tobias and others for providing help and information. Joschua menitons that the instructions to get a virtual machine are now in the ABP computing WG webpage. 

Hector Garcia Morales works on reinforced machine learning techniques for IR optics corrections. He is also in contact with Javier Cardona now at Universidad de Colombia, who is expected to come to CERN for a month next year for the LHC restart. Action:  A plan for porting action-phase jump software closer to OMC software.

Tobias Persson said that he is active in the RUN3 preparations and optics modeling and corrections in addition to the code related work already reported in this meeting. He and Eirik presented in the last Run 3 meeting.

Eirik Hoydalsvik works on closest tune approach/coupling estimates and the related documentation, also mentioned earlier by Tobias.

Jacqueline Keintzel participated in the recent USPAS on spin dynamics, continues the analysis of SuperKEKB optics measurement data including impedance localization, writes here thesis, and works with Leon and Tobias on optics corrections for the 60 degree optics for FCC. She will contact Davide to check Davide's software for orbit correction in Python (shall this be ported to cpymad as a replacement of MADX orbit correction?). Action:  Present spin dynamics summary in LNO.

Leon Van Riesen-Haupt works on impact of non-orthonormality of BPMS in coupling RDTs (resonance driving terms), supervises a summer-student on emittance predictions for FCC-ee together with Tessa Charles and Frank Zimmermann, and works on dynamic aperture after corrections including strong damping as relevant for FCC-ee at maximum beam energy.
