Probing BSM with the Higgs boson Width at CMS

Description

Many models of new physics predict BSM particles that couple to the Higgs boson. Measurements of the Higgs boson width are a powerful way to probe these new physics scenarios and are complementary to direct searches for BSM particles. Recent measurements of the Higgs boson width using H->ZZ decays and of the invisible Higgs boson branching ratio have been performed at CMS with the full run 2 data set.

Stringent constraints on the invisible Higgs branching ratio are obtained, and evidence for offshell production of the Higgs boson is presented. The H->ZZ events are also used to set limits on anomalous couplings to vector bosons. These limits are compared with constraints on anomalous couplings obtained in a recent analysis of Higgs boson production in vector boson or gluon fusion, with Higgs boson decays into two tau leptons.
