2nd phone meeting on EDIT photodetection
166-R-014
CERN
Summary
- no coments to minutes of previous meeting >> approved
- equipment list Dieter / Iouri
Dieter and Youri had a discussion and will be able to come up with a set-up for APD characterization, essentially a copy of a set-up at CERN. Dieter expects to be available throughout the full 2 weeks of the School, while Iouri's current situation allows him only to play a supporting role in the background. They will draft a description of their measurement and upload it to the indico page.
- discussion of lab exercises
The uploaded lab exercises were briefly discussed: QE measurement, MAPMT cross talk, HPD single photon detection, SiPM basic characterization. If one adds exercises on APD and MCP-PMT, we have enough (or even too much) to fill the day.
- iteration on sharing of tasks (lectures, lab exercises, discussion sessions)
We discussed the two possible models:
1. We prepare together a structured lecture of 2-3 hours which covers all relevant topics (incl. general introduction and applications). This lecture will then be given by 1 or 2 persons (splitting e.g. between vacuum and solid state devices), rotating over the team of interested people.
2. Each of us provides a contribution about his/her topic and delivers this part to the students, every day.
There was a preference for model 1. Christian will draft a rough outline of the lecture and invite people to refine the outline in their domains: Dieter and Youri: APD; Nicoleta and Veronique: SiPM; Thierry: HPD; Christian PMT/MAPMT; Jerry: MCP-PMT;
- next meeting(s)
The next phone meeting will be on Monday 4 October, 17:00 CET.
