Upgrade plans for the Pixel detector of STAR experiment at RHIC

The STAR experiment at RHIC is in the process of upgrading the inner detector region with a new set of detectors designed to provide high precision vertex detection to allow for the direct topological reconstruction of heavy flavor decays. I will discuss the design of the innermost Pixel detector system and provide some details on the design of the MAPS based detector including the mechanical, cooling and readout aspects.
