Description

Feature Screening : Ghost Particle

Ghost Particle is a science documentary that follows international efforts to understand the origin of the universe by studying its smallest parts with some of the world’s largest experiments. Neutrinos are invisible, essentially massless particles that pass through matter like ghosts. They behave in peculiar quantum ways but their identity-changing behaviour may hold the key to unlock big questions about the origin of the universe. How then to study such elusive chameleons?

Based at CERN, and with visits to other major laboratories in the US and Japan, Ghost Particle offers an inside view to how some of the world’s best minds set out to do the seemingly impossible: design a machine to detect the undetectable.

Screening followed by a discussion with Director Geneva Guerin and film characters.

Duration: 63 minutes | Production company: Cinécoop Productions | Director: Geneva Guerin | Production country: Canada

Language: English with French subtitles | Discussion in English

Another screening is scheduled the same day at lunchtime for the CERN Community. Find more details on https://indico.cern.ch/e/ghostparticle-CERN

Important information: a COVID certificate valid in Switzerland with picture ID is required to access events at the Globe for all visitors aged 16 and over. Only QR certificates validated by the Swiss Covid Certificate Check app will be accepted (click on the link to download the app and test your own certificate). A valid picture ID will be required to check certificate holder's identity.
