The discovery of 𝐶𝑃 violation in 1964 with 𝐾 mesons was a big surprise, and only understood within the CKM mechanism in 1973. The CKM picture was confirmed with the discovery of 𝐶𝑃 violation with 𝐵 mesons at the 𝐵-factories in 2001.
In this seminar, measurements of 𝐶𝑃 asymmetries in charged 𝐵 meson decay modes to three light mesons are reported using proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb detector. 𝐶𝑃 asymmetries are observed with a significance of more than five standard deviations in the
𝐵±→𝜋±𝜋+𝜋−, 𝐵±→𝐾±𝐾+𝐾− 𝐵±→𝜋±𝐾+𝐾− and decays. Localized asymmetries in the phase space, as well as in intermediate quasi-two-body
𝐵±→𝑃𝑉 decays are reported, and found to be very large.
These results add to our understanding of the differences between matter and antimatter.
