Crab cavity cryomodule test in M7 bunker (IV)

Europe/Zurich

Integration model update- Antoine Kosmicki

The integration model of SPS-RFD CM in M7 bunker is almost completed and some of the open points were discussed during this meeting:

  • The connection between the valve box and the cryomodule has been agreed and approved (see figure 2) between CRG, MME and RF. This information will be implemented into the integration model. After obtaining this approval, CRG will begin the process of purchasing the L-shaped pipe.
    • Q:  SRF is responsible for the leak detection of this connection. The procedure will be discussed between the SRF and MME.
  • Location of cryogenic racks in M7 bunker: CRG proposes to install its rack inside  M7 bunker, two options are discussed: one closer to the personnel entrance door (red cabinet, see picture 1) and the other close to the cryomodule entrance (the cyan cabinet, see picture 1 and 3). This location will have to be checked by the RF team (SRF and AC) as one of the proposed locations is near the water cooling system which was installed in 2015/2016 to cool the HPRF system. This is not visible on the integration model but you can see the picture 11 . This will be clarified between  SRF and AC (meeting 5/22/05).
  • Missing elements in the integration models
    • Q: Should we include the position of the pumping groups (for insulation, beam vacuum) in the integration model? The decision on this will be made by SRF in the coming days.
    • RF power system model needs to be checked and confirmed, particularly: position of waveguides/ coaxial RF lines, cooling of the HPRF system and size of the space needed in the klystron area ( between M7 and M9 bunkers).
  • Marking on the floor:  It was discussed the marking on the floor for  cryomodule position. As DQW and RFD cryomodules will be different it was decided to mark only the cross that represents the projection of the CRG interface according to picture 6 and 8.The marking will be done by Antoine and Emilien.

Integration model for LHC-DQW CM should be done in 2023, it should be noted that there are significant differences between SPS-RFD CM and LHC-DQW CM, for example: DQW module is shorter, RF sockets and waveguides are different. About the LHC-RFD CM: some checks need to be carried out, but we do not expect major differences from the SPS-RFD CM.

Action lists:

SRF and AC: To confirm position of the RF coax lines and the water cooling system

SRF: To confirm position of CRG rack inside the M7 bunker

Antoine and Emilien: marking M7 floor
