      • Experiment critical services and Tier 0 response to ALARMs:
ALARMS can be raised when problems with Tier 0 services affect an Experiment’s data taking ability. It is then the responsibility of CERN-IT to meet the service level response times defined in the MOU. How this is done on the IT side (e.g. piquet or best effort) is not relevant for the decision on whether or not to raise an ALARM. Regarding the list of critical services defined by the Experiments, this is used as input to the Tier 0 management so that relevant service levels can be planned and resourced. It does not dictate whether an ALARM can be raised for a service. Providing the full list of services which are critical for an Experiment’s data taking will help ensure that Tier 0 staff are able to respond within the times of the MOU agreement.
