The existing synchrotron SIS18 will serve as injector to FAIR (Facility for Anti-Proton and Ion Research, under construction at GSI). The large tune footprint of the beam, and machine imperfections make operations at high intensity challenging, requiring delicate control and space charge compensation to limit emittance growth and beam losses.
This talk gives us an overview of the electron lens foreseen to be installed at SIS18 for Space Charge Compensation.
