HEPiX IPv6 WG meeting - Wednesday 24 Aug 2022 starting at 16:00 CEST  (Zoom)

some notes by DaveK

Present:  DaveK, Dimitrios, Martin, Edoardo, Carmen, TimS, Francesco, Nick

Apologies: Costin

Start of meeting

While waiting for people to join DaveK asks Edoardo about edit rights to CERN Drupal knowledge base etc. Edoardo says the person has to be a member of the CERN e-group

Roundtable

CERN - Edoardo has nothing to report.

Fermilab - TimS reports "steady progress" implementing DoE instructions.

ATLAS  - Dimitrios reports  that he has recently observed FTS monitoring over DAVS now showing IPv6 traffic.  This may also need the storage provider to enable. He will continue to investigate (A possible topic for the October meeting)

INFN - Francesco has nothing to report except the very sad recent news of the passing of Laura Perini.

RAL - Martin reports good progress on the new site network and deployment of IPv6. Dual-stack WN's will require full deployment of the new network

US - Nick reports that Globus services do not yet support IPv6 but there are plans to deployt control channels over IPv6.  The IETF working group document on unique local addressing has been accepted and this gets close to becoming a RFC.

Tier2 status

Not a full update but a note that ATLAS/Wuppertal still needs confirmation by ATLAS of deployment. Note that it is not easy for a site to test everything and confirm success.

LHCOPN/ONE monitoring at CERN

Edoardo reports that the end of July data confirms the large increase of traffic seen in June.. He notes that the SNMP counters on the line cards do not seem to confirm the increase. Is there some problem with the Sflow adaptive sampling rate?

AOB and next meeting
