CEC Sign-Up Day

Now that we’ve put the basic infrastructure in place (bank account, website, paperwork, Mattermost), it’s time to sign up for the much-anticipated CERN Climbing Club, or the CEC; Club d’Escalade du CERN !

Signing up:

We have two sign-up events upcoming, so come along to join the club and meet your friendly committee:

• Tuesday 13^th of September 17h30 to 19h30, join us for a beer and chips in R1: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1191578/

Membership will cost only 20 CHF per year, sign up now for 2023 (4 months in 2022 for FREE!).

But what will I get for my membership, I hear you ask?

• A library of topos and guidebooks available for members to borrow (still working on a location to store them at CERN).
• We are discussing discounts and special offers with the local climbing gyms. 
• Activities and social events that we will announce in time.

These points are still in progress and of course not yet confirmed but having real members will give us leverage to negotiate ask for better conditions!

Weekly meet-ups:

To kick things off we’ll be starting a couple of weekly permanences after the first sign-up day, where at least one of our committee members will be at these gyms on the same day every week after work:

These are great places to meet other climbers and get to know the community, if you haven’t met us before then look out for CERN lanyards; we will tie one onto ourselves somewhere (wrist/trousers/etc).
