Dr. Ludovico Boratto

Ludovico Boratto is a researcher at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Cagliari (Italy). His research interests focus on recommender systems and their impact on the different stakeholders, both considering accuracy and beyond-accuracy evaluation metrics. He has authored more than 60 papers and published his research in top-tier conferences and journals. His research activity also brought him to give talks and tutorials at top-tier conferences and research centers (Yahoo! Research). He is editor of the book “Group Recommender Systems: An Introduction”, published by Springer. He is an editorial board member of the “Information Processing & Management” journal (Elsevier) and “Journal of Intelligent Information Systems” (Springer), and guest editor of several journals’ special issues. He is regularly part of the program committees of the main Web conferences, where he received three outstanding contribution awards. In 2012, he got his Ph.D. at the University of Cagliari (Italy), where he was a research assistant until May 2016. From May 2016 to April 2021, he joined Eurecat as Senior Research Scientist in the Data Science and Big Data Analytics research group. In 2010 and 2014, he spent ten months at Yahoo! Research in Barcelona as a visiting researcher. He is a member of ACM and IEEE.

 


Dr. Vicente García Jiménez

Vicente García Jiménez has been a full-time research professor at the Autonomous University of Ciudad Juárez since 2014. He obtained a PhD in advanced computer systems from Universitat Jaume I, Castellón de la Plana, Spain in 2010. His interests are related to machine learning topics, specifically, in supervised classification, data pre-processing, big data, data complexity analysis and time series.

 

 

 

 


Jorge Rojas

Dr. Jorge Rojas is a Fellow Researcher at the UC Davis Center for Sciences and Innovation Studies, at University of California, Davis´ School of Law California International Law Center, Mentor at the UC Davis Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation. His research and professional work focuses on university research management, international intellectual property and technology transfer, internationalization of research and graduate programs at higher education institutions. He has been a a Justice at the Patent and Trademark Appeal Court, Program Director for the Chile - UC Davis Partnership, Director for LA International Law Programs, School of Law at University of California, Davis. He has worked on IP issues for the UC system, including Davis and Berkeley, public agencies, universities and private sector in Latin America and Europe and has published on technology and intellectual property issues. Dr. Rojas has been a member or the Steering Committee of the Centro Interuniversitario de Desarrollo Network of Vice-Presidents of Research and Innovation, as well as a consultant and collaborator for OAS, the Interamerican Development Bank, and several governments and public agencies and higher educations institutions across the world. Lately, Dr. Rojas has been a fellow to the US Embassy to Chile Council on Sciences and Technology, and is currently acting as a closing President at both Universidad ARCIS and Universidad UNICIT. Dr. Rojas is a lawyer and a native of Chile. He holds degrees in Accounting from the University of Concepcion and in Law from the University of Chile. He earned a Master’s Degree (LLM) from the UC Davis Law School in 2003 and a doctoral degree (JSD) from the UC Berkeley Law School in 2008. He was a civil servant in Chile from 1991 to 1998, focusing on agreements of international cooperation and higher education. From 1998 to 2002, he was a lawyer for Fundacion Chile. A Fulbright 2000, currently holds appointments as a Visiting Professor of Law and Innovation at University of Chile and other Chilean and Latin American universities and international organizations like Inter-American Organization for Higher Education.

 


Cristian López Del Álamo

D. in Computer Science obtained with public congratulations (summa cum laude), from the Universidad Nacional de San Agustín and Master in Software Engineering with highest distinction (summa cum laude) from the Universidad de Tarapacá, Chile. Currently, he is a Research Professor at the Universidad de Ingeniería y Tecnología (UTEC). He was General Director of Research at Universidad La Salle de Arequipa and research professor at the same university. He is also Professor of Computer Science at the Universidad Nacional de San Agustín. He was one of the scientists who developed the contact tracking algorithm via Bluetooth for the PCM in order to generate early warnings and prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Peru. He has also been a speaker in several places in Peru, Latin America and Europe. His research interests are focused on Deep Learning Geometry, Machine Learning and algorithms.
