About the static misalignment :

The first simulations showed that a radial misalignment, randomly distributed following a gaussian distribution law with a standard deviation of 150 µm, over the entire ring, of the all the BPM, MQ, MS, would be acceptable.

No specific requirement on relative alignment for components on the same girder are mentioned so far.

As a general overview, static and dynamic alignment requirement for the booster are in the same order of magnitude than the requirement of the collider ring.

About the overlapping of the booster and collider layout:

In fact, the layout of the collider is intended to change in between the physic phases, while the booster layout would mostly remain the same. In particular the place of the sextuple will change. No clear information yet about the length of the cell.

The overall configuration of the collider arc cell should be discussed with Tor. (Different cell length in the dispersion areas??)

Therefore, the Booster’s support design should be able to  accommodate the change of the collider layout.

Position of the booster ring compared to the collider ring, in the arc:

  • The possibility to shift the radial position toward the external part of the tunnel (by 40/50 cm compared to the position of the collider) has to be re-evaluate knowing that the circumference of the booster ring needs to be similar to the collider’s one. This study should particularly, take into account the by-pass strategy applied at the IP.
  • There is no identified issue related to the beam optics to reduce the vertical offset of the booster.

Actions:

  • Contact vacuum colleagues for details about the vacuum system of the booster (NEG coating or pickup for the pumps, assembly procedure, insulated layer…) and sector vacuum valves space requirement.
  • Space in between the magnets to be (re)considered depending on the use of a common chamber for Quad and Sext or if bellow and interconnection must be introduced. Cross-check the value between Jeremie and Barbara
  • Simulations (Static structural, modal, harmonic response) need to be updated accounting the weight of the vacuum system.
  • Further consider the proposition of Jeremie of a common dipole length for all the cell types (especially when considering the reshuffling of the sextupoles position between phases Z/W and h/TTbar)

There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
