Francesco P.: The paper on the tau detection principle was published in the proceedings of the International Conference on Calorimetry in High Energy Physics, Capri - 14-19 October 1991
From Francesco P.:
The PCB in the paper Nucl. Instr. and Meth. A346 (1994) 550 is what we called the “reversed” multiplayer readout plane.
The induction plane is “behind” the collection: no holes are necessary in the PCB.
The induction strips are thick. The collection strips are thin.
The induction signals are due to the poor shielding of the collection strips: while the electrons approach the collection plane, the induction is “transferred” from the induction to the collection plane, where the electrons eventually end upon.
Here are two photos of the readout PCB (it survived in our lab --without being lost-- for more than 25 years!): the pitch is 2mm.
In the meeting we discussed next steps.
Need to meet CERN transport group relatively soon to understand limitations on installations.
For this a package of information and questions needs to be prepared. This package for FLARE will be prepared for the next meeting.
