Field Mapping System for the Mu2e Experiment 1h 30m

Mu2e, the muon-to-electron conversion experiment, will search for Charged Lepton Flavor Violation (CLFV), which is forbidden in the Standard Model (SM) of particle physics. The experiment is based at Fermilab and is currently in the construction phase. I will briefly describe the experimental philosophy and methods of Mu2e, with a focus on the three solenoid systems that generate Mu2e’s complex magnetic fields. In the second half of the talk, I will discuss the efforts of the Field Mapping System (FMS) group to map and model the magnetic field in the Detector Solenoid (DS). Finally, I will discuss recent efforts to affix an NMR probe to the inner wall of the DS cryostat for in-situ monitoring of the magnetic field.
