Travel Information

Granada is well connected by road with all main Spanish cities, and by train with most national and international capital cities. Granada airport is only 30 minutes drive to the city and has daily flights to and from Madrid and Barcelona. Madrid is an important international Hub connecting Spain with Asia, America and rest of the World.

International flights to Madrid and Barcelona connect to Granada with approx. 1 hour stopover and the duration of the flight is 45 minutes. Also, Granada airport is connected with Paris and London.

Flying directly to Granada:

Granada airport is 12km from the city centre. On arrival, the best way to reach the centre is taking a taxi. The taxi costs around 28 €. There is as well a bus service which takes you to the centre of Granada. The bus times tie in with all the flights. The ticket costs around 3 € and you can buy it directly on the bus.

Flying to Málaga:

Málaga is the nearest big international airport to Granada (just 130 km) and there are plenty of flights (more than 70 international destinations). It takes around 90 minutes to get from Málaga to Granada by road.

There are ten daily buses that connect Málaga airport to Granada bus station, with a brief stop at Málaga bus station. The ticket costs between 11 and 14 €. If your flight arrives at a different time, you can take a bus or a taxi to Málaga bus station (Estación de Autobuses) and catch one of the buses to Granada that run approx. every hour from 7:00 until 23:00. The price is around 10 € and it takes 1 hour and a half. The bus that connects Málaga airport with Málaga bus station is Line A. The single fare is 2 € and you can buy the ticket on the bus. The journey takes about 20 minutes. The bus stop is on the arrivals forecourt of Terminal 3 and the buses run every 30 minutes from 7:00 to 24:00. Flying to Madrid:

Madrid is 420 km. away from Granada. Barajas International Airport is placed in the surrounding area of Madrid, but there are good connections by bus, underground and taxi.

If you are arriving to Barajas Airport, you have to go to the bus station (Estación Sur, Mendez Álvaro). You can reach the station by underground (the bus station stop is Mendez Álvaro). There are buses available to Granada every hour approx. Among those, there are several V.I.P. (Premium) non stop buses giving a high quality service, comfort and faster trip. Granada bus station is slightly out of town and you will need to get the tram or a taxi or a bus to get to the centre.

The train station is located right in the center of Granada and next to the Faculty of Sciences. The trip from Madrid to Granada train station takes around 4 hours (60-100€ return ticket).
