Alstan co-creates the ClimateStudio and ALFA tools for calculating daylight and energy performance, maintains the spectral materials database, and develops new tools as part of his research.

Dr. S. Häfker

Alfred Wegener Institute, Bremerhaven, Germany

Keynote: Light, clocks & behavior in the open ocean

16:00 - 16:30

Dr. Sören Häfker is a marine chronobiologist at the Alfred-Wegener-Institute Helmholtz-Centre for Polar and Marine Research. His work focusses on zooplankton, tiny animals that perform daily vertical migrations over hundreds of meters in the open ocean. Dr. Häfker investigates how light environment, endogenous clock systems, and animal behavior affect each other to create a unique interplay of environmental cycles and biological rhythms.
