Description

The i2Planet (i2P for short) development workshop is aimed to gather together IdeaSquare's current and potential future collaborators around the topic of a new educational methodology.

We see that current design practices are not going to be enough to help guide and prepare university students for facing and solving the complex challenges of tomorrow. We want to be at the frontline to tackle this gap - to do that we are looking to focus our work in developing a new methodological approach where students travel to an exoplanet and return back to earth, in order to practice systems thinking, order of magnitude calculations, and thinking beyond the status quo.

To get a glimpse into what this might look like, you can check the programme of a 2-week pilot on the event page.

In this 2,5 days i2P development workshop we will be sharing the learnings from the 2-week pilot and use that as a baseline to co-create a prototype of a modular curriculum and a transition timeline towards a full-fledged program in 2025. With everyone contributing in a modular way we hope to launch something that can profit from all our combined expertise and connections so that we can all eventually support end enrich our own educaitonal programmes in the future.

CERN IdeaSquare is pleased to cover the costs for the overnight accommodation at the CERN Hostel. All other expenses need to be covered by the participants.

Please note that this event is aiming at exclusively physical presence of all attendees. Howeverin case you are not able to join this workshop, fear not, this will be an ongoing conversation, with many opportunities to onboard still in 2024.

Please register on indico by October 1st.

Creating the coolest version of i2P

What are the most important skills we want our students to get?
What would be the coolest ways for us to teach these if we had unlimited funding?
What topics and expertise would be needed?

      Designing the ideal modules

Everyone chooses the modules they would like to work on (min group of 3):
      - what kind of inputs / duration / content / exercises / outputs should there be?
      - what questions did you encounter that you were not able to answer?
      - can you think of an expertise / person whose contribution could be valuable to make this a kick-ass module?
