BRATOL monthly meeting
CERN
Monthly meeting on the advancement of the BI-EP collaboration for the development of the BI rad-tol optical links
GBLD
The analysis performed by Antonio on the extended sample set confirms the previous estimations on the GBLD production distribution.
Two batches will need to be produced, diced and tested without more precise value for the flux at the BLM locations. This would lead an estimated over cost compared to a scenario with flux levels closer to those of the BPM of about 80k.
The project cannot wait much longer for those numbers and in January it will be assumed that the flux is the most restrictive one if the estimations are not provided by then.
TOSA
Contract not sent yet: Jan will check with Josh why as the radiation test is already foreseen for May-June.
The contract needs to be updated to include the requests of Mark.
ROSA
No news from the companies.
MUX
The 4 wavelength MUX have been irradiated and will be tested soon. This is a test aimed to confirm that the technology is indeed tolerant to radiation, hence there was no need to irradiate also a 2 wavelength version. The selection of the components will later follow the same qualification steps foreseen for the TOSA.
BGI/Timepix BLM
Mark and Gabriela joined the meeting. Mark said that for the projects he is working on he would need ~500 VTRx and ~400 VTTx, but needs to confirm it with James. Those quantities are not small enough to be part of the spare of the BPM/BLM production. A better estimate is needed asap and the contract amended.
Mark said that any level of tolerance that will be achieved will be fine for his project as they don’t have any special requirement.
Mark mentioned that they would need their components (VTTx and VTRx) in 2024. It was said that they might get few pieces by end 2024, but definitely not the full production.
Mark needs to get back with actual numbers asap: the TOSA contract needs to be modified before being sent out to account for this new requirement.
Concerning the use of VTTx directly connected to the timepix at 10Gbps, there was a warning from Jan: the driver of the timepix is not perfect and therefore integration studies similar to those performed by Manoel for the BPM needs to be foreseen.
