A.A. presented "Phase Monitors in CTF3". She described the layout of the a possible master clock for CTF3 and CLIC. It was recently found out that the Phase Monitors present an unexpected dipole mode. This has two major side-effects: positively enough, it could be used to give an additional beam position information; on the other hand, this mode could negatively impact the phase measurement itself. However, as the beam offsets will be smaller in CLIC than they are in CTF3 (50 um in CLIC vs 100 um in CTF3), this effect could turn out be relevant only in CTF3. A discussion on how to handle systematic errors in the phase measurements along the pulse followed.
A problem was identified in how to distribute a master clock signal along the machine. A specific meeting to discuss this problem will be called.
Y.P. presented the results of a preliminary study of Dynamic Aperture in the Damping Rings. It seems that the DA required in the current design of the DR is probably big enough to envisage a design of the DR complex that does not require the pre-Damping Rings. This option seems quite attractive because, despite the modest reduction in power consumption (~2MW), the reduction in cost wuould be significant (~100 MCHF).
T.P. reported about his progresses in the phase measrement stability in CTF3.
