March 2007 News: + The SPI project meeting will only be held bi-weekly from now on ================================================== Ian McLaren + Actions done and progress - Geant4 - Built and installed Geant4 8.2.ref02 development releases for - slc3_ia32_gcc323, sol8_CC55 and slc4_amd64_gcc34. - Geant4 testing. - Cernlib - Packaged the build for MacOSX on Intel using Cernlib 2006 for - gfortran/gcc4 prepared by F. Carminati for Alice and made it - available from the Cernlib WEB site. + Next actions - Geant4 - Geant4 testing. + Problems & AOB ================================================== Bertrand Bellenot + Actions done - released Root v5.14.00d for the following platorms: osx104_ppc_gcc401, slc3_ia32_gcc323, slc3_ia32_gcc323_dbg, slc4_ia32_gcc34, slc4_ia32_gcc34_dbg, slc4_amd64_gcc34, slc4_amd64_gcc34_dbg, win32_vc71_dbg + Next actions - Nightlies + roottest ================================================== Yves Perrin + Actions done and progress - commented a cronjob on lcgapp1 (old savannah server) which (wrongly) kept reminding people about old items! - worked on the SPI wiki 'web preferences' to introduce a common banner and style in all pages - modified the SPI logo - installed some javascript code in the nighly build report script in order to have a lighter presentation enabling the user to fold/unfold the various daily and slot reports on single clicks. - helped gLite to trace a faulty mail address (in embedded mailing lists) which kept flooding project admins with rejected notifications - helped user with login authentication (... specified AFS while not having an afs account at CERN) - helped Nathalie with the SFT book library dynamic pages (partly overwritten) + Next actions - MAPS interview - fix a tracker bug reported by Joachim Flammer (gLite) ================================================== Stefan Roiser + Actions done - Preparation of LCG 50b - almost finished by now - Preparation of a meeting with the Black Forest Grid spokesman concerning mac osx porting of Grid s/w - A bit of ironing on the nightlies. Installation of gfortran on the mac (needed for the ROOT build). - A new category for AA project meetings has been setup in the Agenda system. This is where all SPI project meetings and LIM meetings will reside http://indico.cern.ch/categoryDisplay.py?categId=1449 - Participation to CHEP 07, SPI will present the new nightly build system and other changes in the project (external packages, s/w distribution, ...) - Two new Savannah projects have been established CMT and LCGCMT. For the CMT project we'll need a way how to forward the bug reports to the Tack system of CMT. + Next actions - Preparation of talk for tomorrows AA meeting about external s/w re-organisation - Windows port of nightly build system (re-start because of problems with the renting of the virtual machine from IT - see below) - Installation of motif lib on the mac servers, needed for geant4 tests - Fix a problem with the nightlies where the sources of ROOT are not copied into the right location. + Problems - Problems with the Windows on Demand Service from IT. The image of the rented machine was stored on disk and restored after some time into a virtual machine. Unfortunately the machine cannot be accessed anymore after this restoring.
