The LHCC congratulates the WLCG community (experiments, sites, software and middleware providers) for the efficient 2024 operations supporting the LHC physics program.
Good progress was demonstrated by all experiments in the area of fast simulation
The WLCG strategy was well received. Very positive comments about the TCB and particularly the idea of an Open Technical Forum. The LHCC expects to see the outcome of the newly created bodies in due time.
The LHCC agrees with the proposal of "thematic" reports in the area of offline software. The initial themes will be "Event Generation", "Simulation", "I/O foundation", "Analysis", and other community software projects of priority for the experiments.
The LHCC commended the HSF for its evolution plan. The LHCC acknowledges the potential stewardship that HSF-affiliated projects and software could provide to LHC and HEP in general.
The LHCC will formulate a charge for the experiments as a follow up of the Analysis Facilities discussion. The charge will be presented at the November 2024 LHCC and the experiments will be asked to answer it at the February 2025 LHCC.
The LHCC plans to launch a process to start a regular review of the physics motivation for the "experiment specific parameters" (trigger rates, # of MC events, ...). A first focus session is being planned for the November LHCC. A charge will be provided soon.
