Introduction
Participants of the CERN workshop on Invenio for the BlogForever project will get introduced to Invenio, guided through its various user and administrator related features and will be given a chance on discuss on the technical aspects of Invenio concerning the Blogforever project.
Participating
The workshop's nature is technical and it is targeted to designers and developers from Work Package 3: The BlogForever Polices and Work Package 4: The BlogForever Software Infrastructure but participants from other Work Packages that are interested and want to contribute may join.
Requirements and recommendations
The Invenio software platform is written mostly in the Python programming language using a modular architecture and is running on a GNU/Linux server using the Apache web server and a database (MySQL) server. Invenio complies with standards such as the Open Archives Initiative metadata harvesting protocol (OAI-PMH) and uses MARC 21 as its underlying bibliographic format. The technical nature of the workshop requires that its participants have some experience or at least some understanding of the above mentioned.

For those who want will be developing part of the BlogForever software infrastructure or who will be actively participating in the Invenio workshop hands-on session, or simply want a head start for the things that will be presented and discussed in Geneva in June, it is recommended to have Invenio installed on their personal computer. Support for Invenio users is always availabe within the Invenio comunity: http://invenio-software.org/wiki/Community/Support
Workshop format and plan
The workshop will last three days in total, two of which will serve mostly as introduction, walkthrough and answering of initial questions and one as hands-on session and discussion. On the first day Invenio will be introduced to the participants and how-to-install and how-to-run guides will follow. On the second day the user and administrator related features will be thoroughly presented allowing time for questions. On the third day the BlogForever related features of Invenio will be discussed and a hands-on session will take place for those who want to take a closer look into the Invenio codebase.
Visits to the CERN Computer Center are being organized, as well as to the Globe and the Microcosm exhibition.
Workshop outcome
The workshop's goal is to familiarize BlogForever's partners with the Invenio software platform, solve their questions and trigger interesting discussions that will lead to better defining the various issues concerning BlogForever's software infrastructure.
