Transport to the IN Hotel

The CSC does not organise transport from the airport or the city of Belgrade to the hotel. Here are the suggestions given by our local team on how to get to the IN hotel from the airport:

Public transport: From airport to the Main Bus Station

We have been informed that taking a bus from the airport is a bit complicated, but with the following options you should be able to get to the hotel: (keep in mind buses vary depending on the time of your arrival), pay attention to the bus signs.

Walk 7min to the stop "Robni Terminal" and take bus 860l, ride 10 stops and go out on the stop "Beogradska arena/antifasisticke borbe", after which you have a 9min walk to hotel IN.

OR

When you go out of the airport on stop "Aerodrom Nikola Tesla /dolasci/" take bus 600, ride 4 stops and go out on the stop "Omladinskih brigada" from which you directly change to bus 88, 18 or 601, ride only 2 stops to the stop "Beogradska arena/antifasisticke borbe" where you go out, and after which again it's a 9min walk to hotel IN.

If you arrive by train, please walk to the Mostar bus stop, and take bus nr 17 in the direction of Gornji Grad to stop Blok 25 where you are 400 m from the hotel.

Information on the public transportation in Belgrade can be found here:

Taxi: From airport to IN Hotel

The local organisers suggest you order a taxi from the Yandex Go app. The price from the airport should be around 20 EUR, however the price might vary depending on traffic.

At the airport, there is a counter that can arrange for a fixed rate voucher, for more information, see the Belgrade airport website.

Please note that Uber does not operate in Belgrade.

During tCSC 2024 you will be required to use your own laptop and install required software to participate in exercises. Instructions on what to install and configure are available on the Laptop Configuration page in indico.

Please configure your laptop before the beginning of the school, so as you are ready for the first class on Monday 10 June. Any questions - ask our Technical Manager at csc-technical-manager@cern.ch  or in person.

Serbia uses the standard European (round-pronged) plugs (230V, 50Hz AC). Don’t forget your power adapters for laptops, if needed.

Sports and free time

·   On Monday 10 June we shall go together downtown Belgrade for a scavenger hunt, followed by a dinner in the old town of Belgrade. More details will be communicated later.

·    Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon you have a free time period between lunch and the afternoon sessions. This free time may be devoted to learning, discussions with lecturers and/or recreational activities including sports in one of the sports halls at the ITS. (Volleyball, basket, badminton etc.)

·   Feel free to bring board games, playing cards etc if you prefer some calmer down time.

·  We have arranged a special cultural outing on Wednesday afternoon: we will be visiting the Nikola Tesla museum, followed by dinner in Belgrade.

· We hope that participants at the school will make the most of these moments to interact with fellow students and lecturers.

Things you might want to bring...

Here is a non-exhaustive list of things that might be good to bring with you...

  •  Sports clothes and ev equipment (we provide what is needed for the common sports).
  • We have been told that students would like to know if there is  formal dress code, which there is not. Having said this, it is always good to know that restaurant visits and opening/closing events might see some more prominent guests attending which might mean that it is good to have a slightly more formal attire (if you wish to).
  • Sun screen/glasses/hat
  • Water bottle – the tap water in Belgrade is perfectly fine to drink.
  • Please bring your favorite board games or music instruments if you wish!

Miscellaneous

May we remind you that:
