Join us for the operational launch event of the Open Quantum Institute (OQI) – a new, three-year CERN-based programme that will help to unleash the full power of quantum computing for the benefit of all.

Hosted at CERN, born at GESDA, supported by UBS, the OQI is a collaborative initiative that unites the future of science with the powers of diplomacy to solve some of the biggest challenges facing the world and humanity. The OQI focuses on a selection of SDG-related use cases to explore applications of quantum computing in fields like health, energy, climate action, clean water, and food security.

In the pilot phase, the OQI will build on its effort to-date and target the four key objectives: 1) accelerating quantum computing applications for humanity; 2) providing access to quantum computing for all; 3) advancing capacity building; 4) activating multilateral governance of quantum computing for SDGs. The work towards these goals will help to ensure that the whole world contributes to and benefits from quantum computing.

The one-day event includes the closed inaugural meeting of the Advisory Committee, expert workshops on four key areas of OQI, and the official operational launch ceremony. The public is welcome to join the operational launch ceremony taking place in the evening by registering for the event. There will also be a webcast link made available for everyone willing to follow the public part of the event remotely. In addition, future collaborators and everyone willing to actively engage in the pilot phase of OQI, can request to participate in one of the expert workshops taking place in parallel sessions throughout the day.
