Minute Summary of Meeting

Present: M. Chabab, F. Fassi, Boskri, Kenneth, Sanae, Kétévi, and Mounia.

  • Prof. Chabab discussed the logistics, emphasizing the need to schedule visits to one of the five selected high schools to check logistics. The plan is to replicate the same process for the other schools.

  • Prof. Chabab requested the preliminary programs to be submitted by the end of this week.

  • Kenneth requested an update for the next week. Kenneth mentioned we need to have an information about the days in April 15-19 when the lecturers intend to carry out activities

  • Sanae reported on the Accelerator program and mentioned the need to work on the estimated budget for both suggested experiments (one on Accelerator and the other on a cyclotron).

  • David sent an email asking if the high schools will provide a computer projector screen, eliminating the need for hardcopy printouts of the lab PowerPoint slides for each table.

  • Prof. Chabab confirmed that at least five projectors will be available at each venue.

  • Boskri expressed the desire to have different activities for each school based on the availability of lecturers. He will work on a draft to send to the IOC and Prof. Chabab.

  • We requested Prof. Chabab provides the names and addresses  of the high schools that will host the activities on the days from April 15-19.

  • Based on that, we will prepare a timetable of engagements, showing which activities would be carried out concurrently on which days and at which venues.

  • The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 12th, at 16:00 CET.

I have received the acceptance from Zridi Abdelatif Amateur Astronomer, He offers very informative sessions to explain the movement of celestial bodies, astronomical observations, and the interpretation of the sky during different seasons.
I would like to confirm and inform you that this activity will only take place in a single high school, as the person is very busy with the activities of the AfAS2024. However, I have already obtained his agreement to conduct this activity. It will be necessary to arrange transportation to the concerned high school and provide meals during the activity.

I forgot to give you the schedule for this activity, So the activity is planned as follows: A 30 minute presentation (for a maximum of 25 students who will be accommodated in the planetarium) repeated 6 times during the morning and afternoon (reaching 300 students in total).

Our big question involves the five high schools - will the BNL labs be done in a classroom with a computer projector screen at each venue?
If not, that is fine - we will make hardcopy printouts of the lab PowerPoint slides for each table.
This way, the students can reference the slides covered during the initial lecture and refer to the step-by-step instructions for each lab.

However, if we can 100% count on a PC/laptop hooked to a projector in a classroom in each school reserved for the BNL labs, then we can save money by not printing or shipping binders with the equipment.

Therefore, if you have any updates on this, please let us know.
We will be sure to watch the recording of the event in the afternoon (tomorrow EST for NYC).

Speakers: Daniel Trieu (BNL), David Biersach (BNL), Jonathan Ullmann (BNL), Dr Ketevi Adikle Assamagan (Brookhaven National Laboratory (US)), Mounia Laassiri (University of Helsinki)
