Arriving to Athens:
Athens is connected by direct flights to all major capitals of Europe. In addition, Easyjet and Ryanair provide connections to several other smaller cities Europe-wide. Athens Airport is located about 30 km to the east of Athens center and is reachable either by public transportation (Metro or Bus) or by Taxi. For getting to the venue directly from the airport, please see below.
Getting to Demokritos
Demokritos is easily accessible by public transportation.
From Athens center:
- Take the line 3 (blue) of Athens Metro, direction Doukissis Plakentias/Airport and get off at the Nomismatokopio station. From the subway station follow the signs and head towards the exit to Kondilaki.
- At the bus station located at the exit take the Β5, 406 or 407 bus.
- Get off at the 4th Ag. Paraskevis bus stop which is 50 m from the gate of Demokritos.
Indicatively, from "Syntagma" metro station. you should estimate 50 minutes to get to Demokritos.
From Athens airport:
- Take the line 3 (blue) of Athens Metro and get off at the Nomismatokopio station. From the subway station follow the signs and head towards the exit to Kondilaki. An alternative (and cheaper) option is the bus X95. In this case you will have to cross the road for getting the next bus.
- At the bus station located at the exit take the Β5, 406 or 407 bus.
- Get off at the 4th Ag. Paraskevis bus stop which is 50 m from the gate of Demokritos.
NB: As of first of February, an electronic ticketing system for the Athens public transportation is gradually put into practice, alongside with the old paper tickets. Electronic tickets are currently not accepted everywhere which might be a source of confusion for non-locals. You are therefore advised to stick to the old good paper tickets.
To reach the venue, please follow the line starting from the bus top in the map below. At the gate of "Demokritos" (1, blue in the map), please mention your name and that you participate to PIC2024 so that you can enter the campus. The plenary session will take place at the main auditorium of Demokritos (2, green). Some other places of interest are also shown on the map.
