The UK Standard Visitor visa costs £115 for up to 6 months. The earliest you can apply is 3 months before your travel and the visa delivery takes on average 3 weeks. You can find more information on the two government pages:

EU nationals and many others do not need a visa to travel to the UK, however the University issues a standard invitation letter to all non-UK citizens and residents that are visiting for professional purposes. This will be sent automatically as part of your registration, but is not the same as or sufficient for the visa letter above.
