      CaR board v2.0

Some design choices are being discussed in BNL but general plan accounts for the fact that the main challenge is the layout. So the general plan is divided in two steps:

      1. Intermediate prototype that only contains improved analogue/digital components to test functionality
      2. Final prototype integrating SoM

Concerning the final list of components and features, Eric started looking at the list left by Max. The idea is to review that list in with respect to relevance and feasability and converge towards a set of features for the board.

      OS build workflow:

      • New workflow based on PetaLinux tools --> peta-caribou
      • Pre-configured PetaLinux projects for ZC706 and ZCU102
        • Includes meta-caribou layer with Peary and EUDAQ
        • Includes i2c patches
      • Availability of project manager script (peta-manager) to:
        • Configure MAC address
        • Build image for target board
        • Package image for SD card
        • Load image into SD card
      • Refer to README for more details
      • Currently using PetaLinux 2022.2 but will migrate to 2023.2 using a dedicated docker image
      • Still need to include FPGA manager in pre-configured project to enable dynamic reconfiguration of PL bitifle
