Talking Points

  • Mechanical design review (T. Ramos)
  • Different options discussion (All)

Minutes of the discussion

  • A magnetic field of 0.5 T is the minimum required to achieve less than 5% precision error in the measurements.
  • It is crucial that the transverse component of the magnetic field is close to 0.
  • Option 3, the "Rectangular flange," seems the most optimal in terms of flexibility concerning TPX3 or TPX4 integration.
  • Additionally, RF impedance studies appear to be the most promising.
  • The envelope considering the TPX4 option is larger than that of the TPX3.
  • For the design of the main magnet, we agree to set a 180 mm aperture.
  • TPX3 is not currently operational in SPS due to interferences preventing communication with the chip.
  • TPX4 has not yet been tested.
  • Two options have been proposed to consolidate TPX3:

1.     Test the SPS-BGI tank in EMI to replicate the environment where the detectors are installed and resolve communication issues.

2.     Install an SPS-BGI tank adapted to the LHC layout in the next YETS 24-25:

Discuss with the workshop the feasibility of producing a tank for YETS 24-25.

Discuss with the impedance group the integration of the SPS-BGI tank into the LHC layout at the location where the old LHC-BGI is installed.

Conduct a vacuum acceptance test of the SPS-BGI components (Staystik).
