TCDS follow-up
TCDS Update
Helen, Anton, Friedrick, Trista, Miro, Chiara, Rui
FLUKA studies
Studies done replacing last 6 blocks with CSiC (including Titanium)
No more peak on last two blocks
Also energy deposition to downstream elements does not vary significantly
Actions:
Miro: check if same material for both jaws or not
ANSYS studies
Studies on impact of using CSiC instead of graphite on Ti blocks, two cases: 2 or 4 blocks (of second module) replaced
4 blocks of CSiC, as expected, reduce the energy deposition on Ti blocks
First 2 blocks of 1st module from graphite to CFC
Last 6 blocks of 2nd module from graphite and Ti to CSiC
Actions:
Rui: recheck results of HiRadMat fo CSiC and CFC (TCDS one)
Temperature of TCDS without cooling
In case of consecutive 8 hours fills with 2 hours in betweem and a maximum current of 3.7E14 protons a maximum T of 45 C is expected
Sclaing to HL-LHC intensity could bring this T to 100 C
Actions:
Miro: check if possible using air instead of water?
