Presentation from Joel and Franck

status:

  • system underperforming: 2 degrees variation during a day
  • lack of monitoring: only the temperature is available
    • difficult to know what the system is doing
    • no monitoring of the fan status, pressure/flow, setting of the valve opening
  • poor remote cotrollability: only set temperature and door opening limits
  • lack of insulation for the doors
  • poor/degraded air tightness

proposed improvements:

  • better insulation:
    • doors'insulation
    • air thightening foam replacement
  • adding extra monitoring:
    • better temperature probes
    • valve setting
    • input and output flow
    • fan rotation speed
  • adding extra controls:
    • fan switch
    • PID remote retraining
    • remote valve control
    • status dashboard

proposed plan of action:

  • cleaning of the heat exchanger in one point this YETS
  • cleaning of all heat exchangers in LS3
    • replacement in one point of the heat exchangers with a spare set
    • cleaning of the removed exchangers to become the new spares
    • repeat from start in another point
  • installation of a prototype system in this YETS
    • system to be place in parallel at first and 'passive'
    • the test system will be overequipped (superset of the monitoring)
    • switch to the new system after validation of the integration
    • definition of which sensors are relevant after few months of experience
  • installation of the new systems in LS3

Presentation from Enrique

  • ICS offers a full service for systems using PLC:
    • development
    • support for the system definition
    • maintenance and piquet
  • the proposed solution is fully integrated in the control system
  • for our systems they suggest a PLC per point
    • cost per point including all the sensor interfaces: 2kCHF
    • the sensors wiring is up to BI
    • the sensors are to be provided by BI
  • the development of the control SW is a 1 tantum of 62k including the suppoort and maintenance after

Discussion and actions:

  • the intervention is estimated to 4 hours per rack but with large uncertainties (better estimate after YETS)
    • replacement and cleaning of the exchanger
    • cabling of sensors
    • insulation
  • the cost per rack for sensors and insulation is estimated at less than 1k per rack
    • flowmeter and valves to be rediscussed with EN/CV <= action on Franck and Joel
  • the total cost per BA is estimated to ~8k: total material cost 64k
  • with the development cost, originally assumed on BI, we arrive to 130k
