Dr. Deepa Thomas
Dr. Deepa Thomas is an assistant professor at the University of Texas at Austin. After completing her master's degree in India, she moved to Utrecht University for her PhD, focusing on heavy-ion physics at the ALICE experiment at LHC. Following her PhD, she began postdoctoral research at the University of Texas at Austin, where she continued her work on the ALICE experiment. During this time, she took on additional responsibilities within the collaboration, serving as a coordinator in physics analysis groups, and as a junior representative and advocating for the interests of her peers. This role also involved promoting diversity and inclusion within the collaboration. In 2023, she joined the University of Texas at Austin as an assistant professor, where she is now building a research group in heavy-ion physics, conducting research with the ALICE experiment, and preparing for the future ePIC experiment at the Electron-Ion Collider at BNL.
