1. Update on CERN's new communication plan – James Gillies
At the next LOG James will give preview of ppt to extended directorate. Before this is drafted, someone from DG-CO will talk to members of log for input.
James to send draft executive summary to log members right after this meeting.
Kathryn to distribute US-LHC communication plan to all log members.
2. Photo request from the press office – Sophie Tesauri
Please supply event displays in CDS otherwise the press office cannot link to them in their press releases. This enables all images used for press releases to also be included in the press office selection.
3. News from mini-Chamonix – Mirko Pojer
Goals for rest of 2011 – increase luminosity. The aim is to 1.55.10^11 for nominal luminosity per bunch and reduce emittance. 22h of stable beams in the last 24h – a record for recent weeks.
under discussion – for CMS and ATLAS reducing peak luminosity for certain fills, like is done for ALICE and LHCb. Shutdown and restart will follow similar dates to last year – probably with a restart end feb 2012, unless thermal amplifier work – in which case restart 1 month later. Depending on this decision, beam energy might rise to 4.5TeV. The long shutdown is foreseen to be 20 months, the last beam is expected for 24
th November 2012.
4. News from the press office (including future press releases) – James Gillies

There will be a CERN press release and also a press conference organised by LeptonPhoton. There will be a meeting with the DG this pm and James will circulate any decisions taken to LOG members.
The press office will (re)tweet and link to any material on conference announcements posted on the experiment’s pages. James would like to link to material from the experiments in the initial press release before the conference. He also requests the experiments supply him contact people for interviews prior to the event, both in Mumbai and at CERN. The press office will try to get a media list of journalists attending prior to the event.
ATLAS suggests that there be a common hashtag #lp11 for all tweets. Renilde will discuss this with the organisers and inform LOG members.
5. La nuit des chercheurs - Laetitia Pedroso

Please group ages together – send a reminder just before the night that it is imperative to turn up on time, not to miss the time slot.
There will be an information note for local media. The experiments would like to contribute to this.
There will be discussion off-line on combination of CMS /TOTEM activities.
6. Round the table
CMS – plan for room next to control centre under internal circulation. Video made for the Courier. Proposal made to management for discovery videos. Preparations for LeptonPhoton will be filmed by Achintya. At point 5, a recent meeting between CERN - Cessy mairie – tech coordination of CMS.
ATLAS – Virtual visit movie added to the touch screen in the ATLAS visitor centre. The movie was made by one of the collaboration members, using a software called Unity. Virtual visit events- This little trailer will be used to promote the next events: http://cdsweb.cern.ch/record/1371772. Claudia will let us know the next dates.
US-LHC – videos for backgrounders will be on-line soon. There will be a new version of post angel and demons ppt material for scientists planning lectures. Kathryn to circulate web address to log members. Lisa to integrate into ippog database.
Creation of facebook group for regular log exchanges. All agreed this would be a good idea and Claudia kindly agreed to put it into practice.
