Gunn:
- Gunn updates on status of new Gun and Collector
- New collector drawings/design finalised by MME and will be handed over to the main workshop for the production
- Proto gun v5.2 for test (not final) was selected for making 3D and 2D design by Jean (deadline: Q1 2025, money available 80 kCHF)
- On ECTS we started testing proto gun v4.2 (shorter cathode ceramic), the losses are likely due to misalignment between gun and solenoid field
- To fix this, we will remove the correction coils to simplify the setup, make alignments to minimise the losses on Grid
- Also check that the solenoid and BBC field directions are not opposite (last time the BBC cables were disconnected)
- New test expansion solenoid is shipped from manufacturer, it will be at CERN soon
- We agree that we give the solenoid to the magnet team (Carlo Petrone) for measuring the field
Gerard:
- Last year the proto gun v4 worked, only thig changes are: tantalum foil, correction coils and longer drift tube
- The drift tubes didn't look straight so that could be something to look into
- Another version of the gun is designed where the ceramic is inside the vacuum, to be seen if the drawings and manufacturing can be done by ML or MME. This gun design should not be given to Jean as he is already busy working on v5.2 and other activities i the section
Adriana:
- Work on new cooler control/interlock ongoing (Alex, ICS)
- MME sent a 20 kCHF bill but not clear what that is for, Adriana will directly contact MME to clarify
