Wednesday afternoon excursion to Wichita Mountain National Wildlife Refuge (recently featured on Ken Burns documentary on Bison)
Wednesday afternoon we will arrange for buses to transport SUSY2026 participants
to the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge (WMNWR). Buses will depart around noon on May 20 from Campus and drive about 1.25 hours to the Refuge adjacent to Medicine Park OK. The WMNWR hosts a herd of ~500 bison along with wild long-horn steers, elk, coyotes, prairie dogs and othe natural wonders. We will stop for a short or intermediate level hike, and also stop at the visitor center and possibly at a prairie dog village. Buses will return to OU campus around 6pm in time for dinner.
