ADTC meeting
Lars reported on the operation news since last meeting. AD and ELENA showed remarkable stability, with record intensity transferred from AD to ELENA with 6.2.10^7 pbars, ELENA delivering consistently bunches of 1.3.10^7 pbars to 4 experiments simultaneously. The main issues encountered concerned the stochastic cooling and BCCCA, with minor beam time losses.
The ELENA ion source delivers also continuous Hminus beam to GBAR (in between the pbar cycles), requiring to refill the hydrogen cartridge once a week. It appears that the life duration of these cartridges is excellent.
Francois showed the changes and adjustments in the YETS planning. The dates for AUL in the experimental areas, as well as the cryo plant shutdown, are not known yet. The repair of the leak on the large demi water pipe is scheduled early January. AD maintenance operations are limited to the strict minimum.
In ELENA, the interface gate valves of the 2 vertical lines to BASE-STEP and TELMAX will have to be replaced as they are leaking.
The access control IST are shifted to 16th January. Off-line, it was clarified that ELENA will not be locked-out, and that SY-EPC will perform power supply tests in January.
Rustan and Samuel described the cabling works that are planned during the YETS, mainly for the conversion from Ramses to Crome system. These will need intervention in many parts of the AD hall. It is requested that the experiments are contacted before work can happen in their zone so that conditions can be agreed. Also Samuel will check that the lock-out requested does not interfere with the tests planned week 50. It appears that no cables are required to be pulled to TELMAX zone anymore.
AOB:
-Francois flashed some info on the installation of the platform over the ALPHA control room. It will be installed in place on Monday 3rd November. Access in this region will be perturbed and visits will be closed there.
-Eric asked about the possibility of having 1 dewar of lHe during the shut down of the cryo plant. This should a priori not be an issue, as long as it is announced in advance to CRG (Ludovic Alaux).
- Barbara asked about the possible request of installing B shield on the ELENA transfer lines, to minimize the effects of AEgIS magnet on the stability of the beam. This question was already discussed with ABT and should be pushed further with Davide and Yann Dutheil
