Call for Abstracts

Welcome to the abstract submission form for GIREP 2026 in Rethymno, Grete.

Submitting the abstract requires creating a lightweight account, which you can make here. You may already have one, for example because of attending an earlier GIREP-conference.

The extended abstract for GIREP 2026 in Rethymno, Crete should be submitted as a .doc/.docx file, following the formatting in the respective template.

  • The template for oral presentations, posters, and workshops is available here. The length of the extended abstract is limited to 2 pages, including figures, tables, and references.

  • The template for symposia is available here. The length of the complete set of extended abstracts is limited to 10 pages, including figures, tables (if applicable) and references. Within the 10 pages, the first 2 pages should be dedicated to the extended abstract of the symposium as a whole. Additionally, abstracts of each individual contribution should be appended with 2 pages each, as denoted in the template.

When submitting an abstract for GIREP 2026 in Rethymno, Crete, you will be required to complete the proposal form outlining your contribution. The short abstract (up to 100 words) should be copied into the proposal form. This should be a copy of the abstract of the extended abstract from the .doc/.docx file. If you are submitting a symposium, the short abstract of the overall symposium should be copied into the proposal form.

Each participant can have a:
- maximum two oral presentation authorship, only one as presenter or a workshop contributor,
- one poster, and
- one symposium contribution.

- Oral presentations will generally be assigned 15 minutes plus an additional 5 minutes of discussion time.
- Workshops and symposia will be assigned a 90-minute timeslot.
- Posters will be presented in a poster conference during the conference.

Please, note that all presenters need to be GIREP members. You can register to become a member here.

The proposals will be reviewed based on the following criteria. The decision will be sent via e-mail not later than 16 March 2026.


Reviewing Criteria

Your abstract proposal for contributions at GIREP 2026 will be reviewed by at least two reviewers independently. Reviewers will work according to the criteria described below.

A. Scientific quality grading

1. How relevant is the work for the advancement of the field, practice or policy?
2. How well are the theoretical framework, conceptual rationale or pragmatic grounding chosen and explained?
3. Are the research questions and objectives well defined?
4. Are the research methods and design (context, participants, data sources, sampling, procedure, ethical issues) appropriate for addressing the research question? How well are the research methods and design (context, participants, data sources, sampling, procedure, ethical issues) explained?
5. How appropriate is the analysis and how well are the results presented?
6. How well are the research questions answered?
7. How well are the answers, conclusions and interpretations of results supported by the findings?

B. Quality of the presentation of the results

1. Is the overall structure of the abstract balanced and well organized?
2. Is the English readable and good enough to convey the scientific meaning correctly?
3. Are the presented results of relevant to the GIREP 2026 goals and topic?
