Online ALICE masterclass for Royal University of Bhutan

Europe/Zurich
Description

An online event, including

  • introduction to CERN
  • introduction to particle physics and the ALICE experiment,
  • virtual visit to ALICE (the ALICE detector 52 m underground and the experiment's control room on the surface)
  • hands-on activity : analysis of ALICE data from proton-proton and lead-lead collisions; identification of strange particles (kaons, Lambdas, antilambdas) and observation of strangeness enhancement in lead-lead collisions with respect to proton-proton
