Abstract:

Quark and muon sub-structure could be manifest as a deviation from the standard model prediction for the invariant mass distribution of opposite-sign dimuon pairs. The measured distribution is reported based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.3 inverse fb of pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV. The distribution is interpreted in the context of a left-handed current model of contact interactions characterized by an interaction strength parameter Lambda. Expected and observed 95% confidence level lower limits on Lambda are reported.
