Last week : Yb to Miniball

Restart after the stop was smooth laser-wise. No need to intervene, Erwin opened the laser shutter and the beam was there.

This week : Po to CRIS

Switch of lasers on Thursday and Friday.
Optimization on 200Po performed by Reinhard last night. Everything smooth. Ready to go back when needed from CRIS.

      Targets, Schedule and Physics 10m
Speakers: Hanne Heylen (CERN), Isabel Frank (CERN), Matthias Alexander Grasser, Simon Thomas Stegemann (CERN)

      Physics

      • On GPS, the ¹⁶²Yb experiment at Miniball continued for approximately two more shifts after the technical stop, which allowed for a complementary measurement with a different technique as compared before the technical stop. Despite the PSB only restarting late in the evening following the technical stop, the experiment still succeeded in collecting a reasonable amount of statistics. This was also made possible thanks to the derogation from Radiation Protection, which permitted a temporary increase in radiation levels.

      • On HRS, the objective was to carry out two short runs using ²²O beams for IDS and ¹⁷N beams for TAS. Unfortunately, these beams were not produced from the target, but the experiments were able to measure some physics with the noble gas beams that were produced instead. These runs had already been scheduled as a replacement for a cancelled experiment, which is why the beams were planned with a greater level of uncertainty regarding their production. Earlier in the year, at two different occasions we had foreseen yield-checks for thes isotopes but in the end, this time was shifted to physics

      Schedule

      • Tapestation intervention on Monday 7/7?
      • Circulated draft of the schedule until the end of the year. Not fully happy with it so might have to reiterate after receiving feedback from technical teams.
      • Modifications of existing schedule:
        • Addition of collection of pre-irradiated target starting 5/8 of the already published schedule
        • Addition of 2 shifts to CRIS on 21/7 to test their decay station
    • 14:50 14:55

      • Intervention GLM fumehood on Thursday 3/7: https://impact.cern.ch/impact/secure/?place=editActivity:256089
      • Oscar as Flammable Gas Line responsible clarification:
        • Also responsible for purging the line etc.
        • Will need to follow the ATEX courses
      • Nous devrions ouvrir aussi une trappe en proximité d’Isolde (même zone que la trappe d’évacuation actuelle) et une trappe en proximité du Booster (gru á positionner dans le parking du 588)  avant mars 2026 (dates pas fixées encore).

      • Water leak near stairs ISOLDE related to works 197 ( Please note that this is not a water leak. The water observed is residual from the core drilling process)
