Liquid Krypton + cryogenic equipment removal (10+10) (confirmed)

      Challenges
      Associated schedule risks
Support needed from other groups (e.g. HE, EL, ...)

      Speaker: Johan Bremer (CERN)

      ·         Tank emptying

o   5 weeks for emptying + 2 weeks of service disconnections

o   No interventions at the same time -> to be checked per sub activity of the emptying.

o   No interventions in the underground until this is completed.

      ·         The estimated duration doesn’t take into account any margin. The system is 30-years-old and there might be things that make the process longer.

      ·         De-cabling activities can only start once the krypton has been emptied.

      ·         The krypton will be stored in the 916 building.

o   [Action 1] (TE-CRG): come back to EN-EL with the power requirements for the 916 building.

o   [Action 2] (EN-EL): Check if the available power is enough or new power has to be installed.

Vacuum equipment removal (10+10) (Still to be confirmed)
      • List of equipment belonging to the vacuum system in all the areas after the TDC85 door (e.g. TCC8, NA62, …)
      • Among the listed equipment:
        • define which equipment belongs to BE-EA and which belongs to TE-VSC
        • define which equipment is to be kept and which equipment will be sent to garbage
      • List of acquisition hardware in B918 or any other building close by (if any)?
      • Confirm that resources are available in the first week of August 2026 to disconnect and identify the obsolete cables (needed to allow the de-cabling campaign);
      • Confirm that the same disconnection quantities per day as for TCC2 are valid for TCC8 and ECN3?
      • Confirm that when dismantling the vacuum equipment also the supports will be removed?
      • If the supports + equipment are not waste. Define where they will be sent to?
      • Define if EN-HE handling and transport support is needed?
      • Define the WSS for the BE-EA vacuum equipment (cable disconnection and equipment dismantling)?
      • Define if there are special restrictions in terms of co-activity and sequence of works.
      Speaker: Philippe Boisseaux-Bourgeois (CERN)

      ·         BE-EA vacuum equipment up to NA62 and some equipment after.

      ·         Most of the vacuum chambers are inside the magnets and they will be removed with the magnets.

      ·         Most of the equipments are small pieces to be removed that will be done fast. It’s only the

      Planning

      • · Even if Tcc2 is a priority -> but during the cool down, TCC8 vacuum chambers can be removed.

o   K12 part can be done at the beginning.
