2050Today - Thematic Group Biodiversity
CERN, in collaboration with 2050Today, is organizing a visit to discover CERN’s biodiversity.
The CERN sites covers more than 623 hectares between Switzerland and France, including 116 hectares of green spaces, 136 hectares of woods and forests, and 258 hectares of agricultural land leased to local farmers. CERN is home to 18 species of orchid and a wide variety of flora, including some threatened species.
On the day of our visit, we hope to be lucky enough to spot the Autumn Lady’s Tresses (Spiranthes spiralis), a rare and endangered orchid.
Please come 10 minutes in advance in front of building 33 so that every participant can pick up a visitor pass.
Do not forget to bring you ID.
