      MEDICIS

On thursday the target ThO2 fom SCK CEN has been placed onto the MEDICIS FE for outgasing over the week-end. Yesterday some mass scans has been performed, showing Ca-40 as main contaminant. #896M-ThC-Re is being irradiated directly since yesterday for Ra-224/225 collection. Ra-224 will be shipped to Mannheim in Germany which is linked to the Dresden University Hospital and Ra-225 will be shipped to NPL.

This morning there was the visit of Transmutex (company working on transmutation located in Vernier). A special thank to Benoit for the target dismantling demo.

      Physics

      ·                On HRS, a travelling experiment took place using a beam of ¹⁸⁵Hg, which decays to ¹⁸⁵Au, to study shape coexistence. From the ISOLDE side, everything went smoothly. The run stopped one day earlier than foreseen due to a problem with the experimental setup, but good statistics were collected, and the team went home satisfied.

      ·                On GPS, a campaign in the GLM/GHM area, which can run in parallel with the HRS experiment, has started. This campaign will use different beams for several solid-state physics experiments in the context of, among other things, quantum computing and a nuclear clock. Since Friday, the team has been using the leftover protons from HRS and will continue for a few nights, while the daytime will be dedicated to setup work. So far, everything is going well.
