Former Director of Isotope Laboratory, and Former Director, CERAD Centre of Excellence for Environmental Radioactivity at NMBU. Honorary Professor, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine. Appointed member of the Norwegian Academy of Sciences and Letters, Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Received The 4th International Union of Radioeology V.I. Vernadsky award, and The Chernobyl 30-year Memorial Medal from the Ukrainian. Survivor Organization. His Majesty the King Harald V has awarded Salbu the title Knight 1st class of the Royal Order of Saint Olav 2020. Salbu’s scientific expertise includes nuclear/radiochemistry, analytical/environmental chemistry, and radioecology including impact and risk assessments. Salbu and co-workers have published more than 420 articles in int. peer review journals, supervised/co-supervised more than 130 students. She has "produced" 6 professors, has led/participated in more than 50 field expeditions in Norway and internationally, and has been member/chair of a series of national and international committees (e.g., NATO and IAEA).
